the new album is called 'hard candy'! and will be released on april 29th i believe. all the reviews are making it sound like a spectacular collection of songs. i can't wait! security is tight and not much has been able to leak as of yet aside from small little snippets of the first single called 'four minutes'. tons of fake, warbled clips have appeared on youtube but nothing substantial. the anticipation is hell! but i love the new look...she looks like she could kick the shit out of you in ten seconds.

i'm in one of those cocoons again
the kind i used to write about so much when i was a kid
the kind i used to brag about when i was a kind of kid
i actually love being in that magical transition
not because of the awkwardness
but because of the splendidness that follows
everyone wants to be a butterfly
but it's the limbo that is most amazing
it's the transformation that you admire
the fodder for fables
that you share with your make believe grandchildren
the fairy tales that you love to deliver
i'm obviously in a place of reconsideration
i'm obviously not drowning in solace
i can't wait until i am happy though
because everyone likes to be happy
i said it a long time ago while sitting in my apartment in my hometown
soon after i left home...only to return
'we live life in and out of cocoons'
could i possibly have been any more wise?
i doubt it
i seriously doubt it

whew! that last post was a doozy. i almost deleted it when i woke up and read it but hey if i can't let out some honesty on here this blog would be pointless. i've been wanting to post more personal reflections and i guess the ole faithful lubricant of alcohol helped me kick it off with a bang...hehe.
here's a delicously delightful mess of a track by late of the pier remixed by the one and only metronomy called 'the bears are coming'. 2007 was definitely the year of the bear and 2008 seems that way too so far. this mix strongly reminds me of early deee-lite warped into the future with some evil modern day technology.

yes ladies and gentlemen...the b-52's are back! here's the radio edit of the first single called 'funplex'. it's amazing and everything you would expect from a new b-52's track. fun, funky and strangely sexy. it's also kinda cool because fred comes into my store at least three times a week to buy records. he must have some collection! he's a very understated guy who is definitely not looking for attention opposed to his bawdy, loud, stage persona.

USDA makes nation's largest beef recall
By GREG RISLING,
Associated Press Writer
The U.S. Department of Agriculture on Sunday recalled 143 million pounds of frozen beef from a California slaughterhouse, the subject of an animal-abuse investigation, that provided meat to school lunch programs.
Officials said it was the largest beef recall in the United States, surpassing a 1999 ban of 35 million pounds of ready-to-eat meats. No illnesses have been linked to the newly recalled meat, and officials said the health threat was likely small.
The recall will affect beef products dating to Feb. 1, 2006, that came from Chino-based Westland/Hallmark Meat Co., the federal agency said.
Secretary of Agriculture Ed Schafer said his department has evidence that Westland did not routinely contact its veterinarian when cattle became non-ambulatory after passing inspection, violating health regulations.
"Because the cattle did not receive complete and proper inspection, Food Safety and Inspection Service has determined them to be unfit for human food and the company is conducting a recall," Schafer said in a statement.
A phone message left for Westland president Steve Mendell was not immediately returned.
Federal officials suspended operations at Westland/Hallmark after an undercover Humane Society video surfaced showing crippled and sick animals being shoved with forklifts.
Two former employees were charged Friday. Five felony counts of animal cruelty and three misdemeanors were filed against a pen manager. Three misdemeanor counts — illegal movement of a non-ambulatory animal — were filed against an employee who worked under that manager. Both were fired.
Authorities said the video showed workers kicking, shocking and otherwise abusing "downer" animals that were apparently too sick or injured to walk into the slaughterhouse. Some animals had water forced down their throats, San Bernardino County prosecutor Michael Ramos said.
No charges have been filed against Westland, but an investigation by federal authorities continues.
Officials estimate that about 37 million pounds of the recalled beef went to school programs, but they believe most of the meat probably has already been eaten.
"We don't know how much product is out there right now. We don't think there is a health hazard, but we do have to take this action," said Dr. Dick Raymond, USDA Undersecretary for Food Safety.
Most of the beef was sent to distribution centers in bulk packages. The USDA said it will work with distributors to determine how much meat remains.
Federal regulations call for keeping downed cattle out of the food supply because they may pose a higher risk of contamination from E. coli, salmonella or mad cow disease because they typically wallow in feces and their immune systems are often weak.
About 150 school districts around the nation have stopped using ground beef from Hallmark Meat Packing Co., which is associated with Westland. Two fast-food chains, Jack-In-the-Box and In-N-Out, said they would not use beef from Westland/Hallmark.
Jack in the Box, a San Diego-based company with restaurants in 18 states, told its meat suppliers not to use Hallmark until further notice, but it was unclear whether it had used any Hallmark meat. In-N-Out, an Irvine-based chain, also halted use of the Westland/Hallmark beef. Other chains such as McDonald's and Burger King said they do not buy beef from Westland.
Raymond countered a claim leveled by Humane Society President and CEO Wayne Pacelle, who said a USDA inspector was at the Westland plant for about two hours each day. USDA inspectors are there at slaughterhouses "continuously," Raymond said.
Federal lawmakers on Thursday had called for the Government Accountability Office to investigate the safety of meat in the National School Lunch Program.
Upon learning about the recall, some legislators criticized the USDA, saying the federal agency should conduct more thorough inspections to ensure tainted beef doesn't get to the public.
"Today marks the largest beef recall in U.S. history, and it involves the national school lunch program and other federal food and nutrition programs," said U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin, chairman of the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry. "This begs the question: how much longer will we continue to test our luck with weak enforcement of federal food safety regulations?"
Advocacy groups also weighed in, noting the problems at Westland wouldn't have been revealed had it not been for animal right activists.
"On the one hand, I'm glad that the recall is taking place. On the other, it's somewhat disturbing, given that obviously much of this food has already been eaten," said Jean Halloran, director of food policy initiatives at Consumers Union. "It's really closing the barn door after the cows left."

the following story courtesy of my pal ultraman rickster
LAKELAND, Fla. - What appeared to be a metal staple was found Thursday in a Valentine's Day lollipop at an elementary school, a day after a woman reported a blade-like piece of metal in another bag of the same product. It has been pulled from the shelves of thousands of stores across the country.
Roughly 20 lollipops, from a bag of Pokemon Valentine Cards and Pops, were seized at Kathleen Elementary School in Lakeland. X-rays determined that only one piece definitely had metal - what appeared to be a staple - baked inside, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said.
On Wednesday, Lisa Potter in nearby Mulberry told authorities she found a lollipop with a piece of metal in it in a bag of the same product. The metal appeared to be part of a razor blade, authorities said.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office issued a safety advisory and the Dollar Store chain removed the product, sold in bags of 10, from its more than 8,000 stores nationwide. The Food and Drug Administration is investigating.
Judd said the two tainted lollipops were purchased from different Dollar General stores near Lakeland. He said the lollipops did not appear to be tampered with and it appeared the metal was baked into the candy in China, where it was produced.
"Our children were put at risk of physical injury because of this," Judd said.
No injuries have been reported and it was unclear whether the metal was intentionally placed in the candy.
The sheriff's office said Sherwood Brands of Maryland, which imports the candy from China, was cooperating.
"They are as concerned as we are," Judd said.
Dollar General, headquartered in Goodlettsville, Tenn., also pulled another Sherwood Brands product, Dog Artlist Collection Valentine Cards and Pops, from shelves. A store chain spokeswoman, Tawn Earnest, said no other pieces of metal have been found in the manufacturer's products.
China's reputation as an exporter has taken a beating in the past year following the discovery of dangerous chemicals in products from toothpaste to toys. Last year it announced a series of measures to boost product supervision.

i'm debating on going! who wants to come?
go to million fag march for more info
What you need to know
Date: March 30, 2008
Time: 11:00 AM
Where: Westboro Baptist Church, Topeka, KS
Requirements: This is not a “gay-only” event. Just come with the ability to send a message to the WBC and Fred Phelps that intolerance is unacceptable.
The Westboro Baptist Church, of Topeka, Kansas, is a hate group masquerading as a Christian church.
Led by the Rev. Fred Phelps, the misguided members of this church target homosexuals and a range of others with messages of hate. The church’s outrageous protest actions - the group prefers to picket funerals - have earned Phelps and his ilk much media coverage.
To date, the WBC’s protests have taken place in at least 22 states, and have inspired a wave of grassroots anger. As a result, 38 states have introduced bills to limit protests near funerals, and at least 29 of those states have passed such measures. Phelps has vowed to challenge the legislation, alleging that these new restrictions unconstitutionally restrict freedom of speech.
The time has come to turn the tables. Let us all gather in one place, at one time to (peacefully) show Phelps and his church that freedom of speech works both ways.

As I have traveled around the country these past twelve months, what I sensed in my heart has been confirmed – America is embracing its LGBT sons and daughters with an acceptance and understanding as never before. On the campaign trail, a father of a gay son will ask about ending Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. A woman will ask why she can be discriminated against just because of who she is. Sometimes they wait furtively for the crowd to thin and then whisper their confidences in a soft voice and sometimes they stand up proudly at town meetings and want me to share my views on how I will help lead the change to assure that this country fulfills its promise to everyone.
Let me tell you what I have been telling voters across America. I am fully committed to the fair and equal treatment of LGBT Americans. For seven long years, the Bush Administration has tried to divide us - only seeing people who matter to them. It's been a government of the few, by the few, and for the few. And no community has been more invisible to this administration than the LGBT community.
I will change that. The best evidence of what I will do as President is what I have already done.
* I am proud of my record as First Lady, as a U.S. Senator and as a candidate for President in working toward the fair and equal treatment of LGBT Americans.
* I am proud that as Chair of the Senate Democratic Steering and Outreach Committee in 2006, I worked closely with LBGT community to develop a smart strategy that defeated the Federal Marriage Amendment. I am proud of fighting the FMA as divisive wedge politics at its worst.
* I am proud to be a co-sponsor of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, the Matthew Shepard Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act, and the Domestic Partnership Benefits and Obligation Act which would grant the same benefits (including health insurance) to domestic partners of federal employees that are currently offered to employees’ legal spouses.
* I am proud to have authored the Early Treatment for HIV Act, which expands access to vital treatment options for low-income individuals living with HIV, and fought to fully fund the Ryan White CARE Act.
* I am proud that I hired a National Director of LGBT Outreach within a month of announcing my candidacy for President and to have openly gay and lesbian staffers serving at all levels of my campaign.
* I am proud to have a National LGBT Steering Committee of over 130 that includes openly LGBT elected officials, Board members and opinion leaders on issues ranging from transgender rights, to HIV/AIDS, to “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell”.
* I am proud to have marched in Gay Pride parades as both First Lady and as Senator and to have spoken in front of so many LGBT audiences ranging from the Human Rights Campaign, Empire State Pride Agenda, the Hetrick Martin Institute, PFLAG (Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays), GMHC (Gay Men’s Health Crisis), and the American Foundation for AIDS Research.
* I am proud to have fought Republican efforts to demonize and marginalize the LGBT community, and I will continue to do that as President.
We have so much work to do. When I am President, we will work together to make sure that all Americans in committed relationships have equal benefits and that nothing stands in the way of loving couples who want to adopt children in need. We're going to expand our federal hate crimes legislation and pass the Employment Non-Discrimination Act and assure that they are both fully inclusive of all people. And finally, we will put an end to the failed policy of Don't Ask, Don't Tell. Courage, honor, patriotism and sacrifice – the traits that define our men and women in uniform – have nothing to do with sexual orientation.
My father was a conservative Republican, who held very traditional views for much of his life. Yet in his last years, it was a gay couple who lived next door who provided much of the compassion and comfort he and my mother needed as he grew ill. And it was that same neighbor who held his hand as he died. If my father can move, America can move.
To each and every LGBT American, I say this. You have done so much to help this country understand your lives by simply being open and honest about who you are and living your lives with dignity. Thank you for your courage. It is time that we recognize your hard work. I know that this country is ready for changes in the law that reflect the evolution in our hearts.
America deserves a President who appeals to the best in each of us, not the worst; a President who values and respects all Americans and treats all Americans equally no matter who they are or who they love. I want to be that President. I want to be your President.
-RESUME OF BARACK OBAMA-
POSITION SOUGHT: PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES
JOB DESCRIPTION: the successful candidate must have the ability to effectively manage and resolve a wide range of critical issues which significantly affect the welfare of 300 million Americans and billions of people in other countries across the world including but not limited to: national security, terrorism, economic recession, national debt, heath care crisis, shrinking job base, educational deficit, immigration, global warming, etc.
It is imperative for the candidate to have job related experience for two reasons: i) past experience is the most accurate predictor of future performance, and ii) the nature and urgency of our problems is such that the next president must address them commencing on day 1.
In addition, the candidate must have the right management philosophy, style, psychology, judgment, and moral courage to put our country to back on the right track through strong decisive leadership. In the immortal words of Harry Truman: “The buck stops here”.
QUALIFICATIONS: here are the job related qualifications of Barack Obama as I perceive them:
PRIOR EXPERIENCE: Freshman Senator (D-Il). Illinois State Legislator, Community Organizer, President of Harvard Law Review. Lived and travelled abroad. Close ties to Daley Machine. He has written two books about his life which have inspired people. No significant legislative accomplishments. He is married, 2 children.
MANAGEMENT PHILOSOPHY: Claims he is not a Chief Operating Officer. Believes he should set the direction for the country, and hire other people (as yet unidentified) actually run the government. Yet, the evidence to date from the campaign trail suggests he does not hold subordinates accountable for their actions, i.e. South Carolina campaign staff, Jessie Jackson Jr., General Mc Peak, Axelrod, etc.)
MANAGEMENT STYLE: In public, he favors mass meetings, inspirational speeches, and mass movement politics. Behind the scenes he is the exact opposite, i.e. very deferential to powerful interests, and willing to concede a publicly held position as long as he can get a positive headline. Sometimes he gets political contributions too, i.e. Execon.
PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE: He preaches themes of empowerment and unity. But when challenged, he becomes very defensive, and tends to demonize opponents. And when he does not get his way threatens to pick up his marbles and go home. Finally, his attitude toward women is open to question, i.e. the snub, likeable enough, turning his back, etc.
JUDGMENT: He claims that he is always right on day 1. He cites a speech in Illinois legislature opposing Iraq War as proof–but concedes does not know what he would have voted. He tries to dismiss, but ultimately a 17 year political. He minimizes the assistance he sought and received from that individual as a “bone headed mistake”. He prefers to avoid hard decisions whenever possible (infra).
MORAL COURAGE: He failed to show up for Kyle Lieberman, but criticizes others who did. He voted pass 129 times on various pieces of legislation, on controversial issues. He decries lobbyists but uses them in his own campaign. In sum, he is never there when you need him.
REFERENCES: Oprah, Ted Kennedy, MSNBC, CNN, Big Blogs, and a long list of self serving political opportunists who know as well as we do that that he is unqualified for the job but wish to exploit that fact for their own advantage.
CONCLUSION: if you put aside all the media hype, it becomes obvious that Barack Obama is not qualified for the job of President of the United States of America, particularly in these perilous times.
here's another weird nostradamus tidbit pointed out by fellow madonna nation member vanity bonet
The man will be called by a barbaric name
that three sisters will receive from destiny.
He will speak then to a great people in words and deeds,
more than any other man will have fame and renown.
That which neither weapon nor flame could accomplish
will be achieved by a sweet speaking tongue in council.
As for the Book of Revelations, the Anti-Christ is supposed to be of middle-eastern descent, his name “blessed” (Barack means blessed), cunning, and a powerful speaker.

Experts Say Positive People on Effective HIV Meds Aren’t Sexually Infectious
The Swiss Federal Commission for HIV/AIDS has issued the first-ever consensus statement saying that HIV-positive people who are effectively on antiretroviral therapy, and who do not have any other sexually transmitted infections (STIs), cannot transmit HIV during sex, reports Aidsmap.com (aidsmap.com, 1/30).
The statement, issued by four Swiss HIV experts, is published in this week’s Bulletin of Swiss Medicine. According to the announcement, “an HIV-infected person on antiretroviral therapy with completely suppressed viraemia (“effective ART”) is not sexually infectious, i.e. cannot transmit HIV through sexual contact.”
The commission says that this statement is valid so long as the following criteria are met: the person adheres to antiretroviral therapy that is evaluated regularly by his or her physician; the person’s viral load has been suppressed (<40>
The commission’s article in the Bulletin begins by stating that the commission “realizes that medical and biologic data available today do not permit proof that HIV infection during effective antiretroviral therapy is impossible, because the non-occurrence of an improbable event cannot be proven… The situation is analogous to 1986, when the statement ‘HIV cannot be transmitted by kissing’ was publicized. This statement has not been proven, but after 20 years’ experience its accuracy appears highly plausible.”
The commission says it “is not for the time being considering recommendations that HIV-positive individuals start treatment purely for preventative measures.” It also says that it is not advocating a change in current HIV prevention strategies in Switzerland. However, it does state that an HIV-positive person in a stable relationship with a person who does not have HIV, who adheres to their antiretroviral treatment and does not have an STI is “not putting their partner at risk of transmission by sexual contact.”
